Hi there, thank you for visiting my about me page.

A little about me.  My name is Lenny (Len) and for over 20 years I worked in digital marketing in London, working with big brands and agencies.

And then COVID hit and like many people, I made a conscious choice to change the direction of my life.

In my early 20's (many years ago) I started an apprenticeship with a local cricket bat maker based in Bedfordshire, it was a wonderful job but for financial reasons, I had to give the job up, looking back now I wish I hadn't, it was one of the biggest mistake of my life.

During COVID I made contact with my old mentor Gary from WG Willow and I started the apprenticeship again, starting from the basics of bat making and learning from somebody who has over 35 years of experience.

Gary has over 35 years of bat-making experience for some of the most well-known cricket brands, as well as his own is renowned throughout the bat-making industry I was incredibly lucky that he agreed to train me.

It was a big decision, I have 2 children and a wife so this was a big family decision, but I was lucky to have the full support of my family.

The was no certificate with the apprenticeship, no formal qualification, but I walked away after 18 months with the knowledge and know-how for how to make and repair cricket bats, am I the finished article? absolutely not, I'm learning every day but I aim to make a cricket bat brand that is affordable for all, by providing English Willow and alternative willows.

There is one thing most people know about me, I'm cricket-mad, I love everything about the game, I love watching, playing, and coaching, I love everything about the game and now I can make cricket bats, the turnaround is quite amazing and I can't wait to see what the future holds.

Since starting in the industry I have made some wonderful friends and contacts all over the world, it's a small industry but everyone is keen to share ideas on how to make the best cricket bats and I learn from these people every day.

Every cricket bat I make I strive to make it the best bat I've ever made, I pour my heart and soul into every bat and love nothing more than chatting about the bats, the process and the intricacies of cricket bat-making with my customers.

I still play cricket, on Saturday afternoons you can catch me in the Green and Black of Burgess Hill Cricket Club trying to score runs and of course using one of my Trogon bats.
